On June 18, 2025, at approximately 6:48 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a shooting that occurred at Martin Park in the area of Forestdale Avenue and Jeanne Avenue. The preliminary investigation revealed that two male suspects traveling in a vehicle drove by and fired multiple rounds at two individuals in the park. The park is located in a neighborhood surround by multiple residential units. The suspects and victims fled the area prior to police arrival.

SJPD Gang Investigations Unit Detectives began an investigation and determined the shooting to be gang-motivated. Detectives quickly identified the suspects as Manuel Rios and a 17-year-old juvenile male suspect. Both suspects are known, documented gang members. GIU Detectives obtained arrest warrants for both suspects and search warrants for their associated residence.

On July 16, 2025, both suspects were located and arrested in the city of San José. During the execution of the search warrant, Detectives located gang indicia, a firearm, and multiple rounds of live ammunition. Suspect Manuel Rios was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail, and the juvenile suspect was booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall, both for the gang-motivated shooting and for firearm-related crimes.
