On May 3, 2025, at approximately 1:13 AM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a local hospital in the city of San José for a report of a walk-in victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. The preliminary investigation revealed that on May 2, 2025, at approximately 11:48 PM, an unreported attempted murder occurred in the 1000 block of North Fourth Street. Multiple adult male suspects violently assaulted the adult male victim. The victim was left unconscious at the scene, suffering from life threatening injuries, including multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to a local hospital by witnesses. The suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival.

SJPD Assaults Unit Detectives began a thorough investigation and identified two suspects: Cesar Castellanos and David Ramirez. Detectives obtained arrest warrants for both suspects and search warrants for their associated residences.

On July 24, 2025, Detectives located Suspect Castellanos in the city of Oakland and Suspect Ramirez in the city of Salinas. Suspects Castellanos and Ramirez were arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for attempted homicide and assault with a deadly weapon. During the execution of the search warrants, Detectives located an unregistered firearm.
