On March 9, 2025, at approximately 8:45 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to the 3500 block of Cas Drive for a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, Officers located evidence of a shooting but did not locate any of the involved parties. Shortly after, an adult male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound was dropped off at a local hospital. Despite life savings efforts by medical staff, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

SJPD Homicide Unit Detectives responded to the scene and began a thorough investigation. During the course of the investigation, Detectives identified four suspects: Elias  Navarro, Jonathan Hernandez, Alex Zuniga-Melchor, and David Ramirez Salas. Detectives obtained warrants for their arrest and search warrants for their associated residences.

On July 30, 2025, Detectives located and arrested Suspect Hernandez in the city of San José and Suspect Zuniga-Melchor in the city of Milpitas.

On July 31, 2025, Detectives located and arrested Suspect Navarro in the city of Milbrae and Suspect Salas in the city of Gilroy.

All suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for murder.

This incident was the City's 4th homicide of 2025.
