***UPDATE*** SJPD Arrests Suspect for Homicide #17

On August 4, 2025, at approximately 2:33 AM, the San José Police Department received a call of a fight that occurred in a parking lot located in the 2200 Block of Story Road. Officers responded to the scene and located an adult male victim suffering from at least one stab wound. The victim was not conscious nor breathing. Medical personnel arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.

SJPD Homicide Unit Detectives responded to the scene and began a thorough investigation. That same day, Officers identified a person of interest and located him in the city of San José. Detectives were able to confirm that the person of interest, Marino Diaz, was in fact the suspect responsible for the homicide. Suspect Diaz was arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for murder.

This incident was the City's 17th homicide of 2025.
