***UPDATE*** SJPD Identifies Suspect for Homicide #18

On August 10, 2025, at approximately 9:04 PM, the San José Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance at a residence in the 100 Block of Danze Drive. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male victim suffering from multiple injuries that were consistent with being physically assaulted. The victim was not conscious nor breathing. Medical personnel arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased. An adult male suspect was apprehended on scene.

SJPD Homicide Unit Detectives began an investigation and identified the suspect as Jerry Cao. Suspect Cao was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for murder.

The motive and circumstances surrounding the event are still under investigation.

This was the City's 18th homicide of 2025.
