On November 3, 2024 at approximately 4:05 PM, Officers responded to the 4500 block of The Woods Drive for a report of a five (5) month old infant not conscious and not breathing. When Officers arrived, they immediately began life saving measures. The victim was then transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
On November 9, 2024 at approximately 12:37 PM, the victim was pronounced deceased. Detectives from the Homicide Unit began a comprehensive investigation into the incident. During the course of the investigation, the father, Julian Taylor, was identified as a potential suspect.
On July 22, 2025, Detectives were notified by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner the cause of death was a result of multiple traumatic injuries and a manner of death was ruled a homicide.
On July 28, 2025, with the assistance of the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Suspect Julian Taylor.
On August 18, 2025, SJPD Homicide Detectives, with the assistance of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Gang Surveillance Unit Task Force, located and apprehended Suspect Julian Taylor in the city of Palmdale, CA. The suspect was transported back to San José and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for child abuse resulting in death.
This incident was the City's 29th homicide of 2024.
