On September 16, 2025, at approximately 11:05 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a solo vehicle collision in the 100 block of Madrone Avenue in the city of San José. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 1998 black Jeep Cherokee SUV, occupied by an adult female driver and an adult male passenger, was traveling westbound on Madrone Avenue west of Dougherty Avenue. The SUV struck a cement wall on the north side of Madrone Avenue at a creek crossing. 

The adult female driver was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries and later stabilized. Her injuries were later determined to be non-life threatening. 

The adult male passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

This is the 25th fatal collision and 25th traffic death of 2025.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
