On September 18, 2025, at approximately 11:16 AM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of an armed carjacking that occurred in the area of Las Plumas Avenue and Marburg Way. Four adult male suspects exited a vehicle and approached the adult male victim. One of the suspects brandished a firearm at the victim and demanded the victim hand over his vehicle key. The suspects then violently assaulted the victim and forcibly took the victim's key. The suspects fled the scene in their original vehicle, in addition to the stolen vehicle, prior to police arrival.

SJPD Patrol Officers immediately began an investigation and requested assistance from the SJPD Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC) to locate the suspects and victim vehicle. Utilizing the Flock Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR), RTIC analysts quickly located and tracked the suspects and their associated vehicles. Through real-time alerts and updates, SJPD Patrol Officers were able to conduct a vehicle enforcement stop on both the suspect vehicle and victim vehicle in the city of San José. The suspects were identified as Hugo Velazquez-Pena, Omar Macedo-Topete, Jonathan De La Cruz, and Victor De La Cruz.

All four suspects were arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for various crimes including carjacking and assault.

This arrest was made possible by the outstanding work of our SJPD Patrol Officers, paired with RTIC's cutting-edge technology and swift coordination.
