On September 20th, 2025, at approximately 2:28 PM, San José Police Department Officers responded to a report of an attempted sexual assault that occurred at a residence located in south San José. The unknown suspect followed the survivor and sexually assaulted her in front of her residence. The survivor screamed and tried to fight the suspect off of her. The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle prior to police arrival. Officers worked diligently and immediately employed the use of ALPR cameras to identify the suspect's vehicle.
Personnel with the Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC) acted swiftly, utilizing technology to provide Officers with an identification for a possible suspect. Officers surrounded the nearby residential area and located a male matching the suspect description walking in the area. Officers detained the male and was subsequently positively identified as the suspect responsible for the attempted sexual assault.
Sexual Assault Investigations Unit Detectives responded and began a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Detectives provided the survivor with resources. The suspect was later transported to the Santa Clara County Main Jail for multiple crimes related to sexual assault.
This arrest was made possible by the outstanding collaborative work of our SJPD Patrol Officers, Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC) and Sexual Assault Investigations Unit.
