On October 23, 2025, at approximately 5:59 AM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to the area of Monterey Road and Edenview Drive for a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2001 silver Acura sedan, occupied by an adult male driver, was traveling northbound on Monterey Road north of Edenview Drive when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing eastbound across Monterey Road outside of any marked crosswalk.
The adult male pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle initially left the scene, but returned shortly after and cooperated with the investigation.
This incident is the city's 30th fatal collision and 30th traffic death of 2025. This is also the 15th pedestrian death of 2025.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
