On April 28, 2025 at approximately 6:52 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a firearm brandishing incident that occurred in the 1900 block of Poco Way. An adult female victim was in her vehicle when she was approached by another vehicle operated by an adult female suspect and occupied by an adult male suspect. The adult male suspect exited and displayed gang signs while shouting gang-motivated speech at the victim. After returning to his vehicle, the male suspect subsequently leaned out of the window and brandished a firearm at her. The suspects fled in the vehicle prior to police arrival.

The SJPD Gang Investigations Unit (GIU) began an investigation and identified the suspects as Christopher Murillo and Jezarae Chavez. GIU Detectives obtained arrest warrants for both suspects and search warrants for their associated residences.

On October 28, 2025, Suspect Murillo was arrested in the city of San José and Suspect Chavez was arrested in the city of Morgan Hill. During the execution of the search warrant at Suspect Murillo's residence in the city of Gilroy, Detectives located an unregistered, loaded firearm, as well as various gang indicia. Suspect Murillo is a known gang member who is prohibited from owning firearms.

Both suspects were booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail for multiple crimes, including gang-motivated brandishing of a firearm and assault with a deadly weapon.
