On August 18, 2025, at approximately 11:25 PM, Officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon that occurred in the 2900 block of Monterey Road. The suspect drove his white Ford pickup truck directly into a parked food vendor vehicle multiple times. Three employees were located inside the food truck and were able to exit the vehicle without injury. The damage caused by the collision was estimated to be approximately ten thousand dollars. The suspect was unidentified and fled the area prior to police arrival.
Assault Unit Detectives immediately began a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Detectives identified the suspect as Orlando Rivero and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
On October 30th, 2025, with the assistance of the Special Operations Metro Unit, Suspect Rivero was located and apprehended in San José. He was later booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for crimes including assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism.
